BCCI Awaits The Government's Nod To Conduct IPL 2020

BCCI Awaits The Government's Nod To Conduct IPL 2020:- The Indian Premier League (IPL) for the year was not shelved and the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to conduct the tournament at any cost. The franchises too voted for the decision of BCCI and a series of meetings took place in the recent times regarding the same. BCCI finally decided to conduct IPL 2020 in United Arab Emirates (UAE) after the cases of coronavirus kept increasing in the country. BCCI came to the conclusion that it is not suitable to conduct IPL 2020 in India even in closed stadiums as the spread is huge. BCCI requested the government of Indian to approve the IPL 2020 to be conducted in UAE.

BCCI even received requests from England, South Africa and New Zealand that they are ready to host the tournament. The governing council meeting of IPL will take place on July 24th during which the final decision would be taken. IPL 2020 may take place between September and November. The dates are yet to be finalized and announced. There are talks that IPL 2020 will start on September 19th. India may also play with South Africa in UAE for a three-match one-day series. BCCI is currently holding talks and the decision would be taken soon. IPL 2020 matches may start early at 6 PM local time which is 7.30 PM for Indians.

The broadcaster requested for an early start considering the Indian audience who contribute most of the audience. BCCI wants to prepone IPL 2020 by a week and avoid 4 PM matches. BCCI asked the Star network to take a decision after which the schedule of IPL 2020 will be finalized.
