Coronavirus Row: IPL 2020 May Get Cancelled:- Despite of taking strict measures, the number of patients tested positive with coronavirus reached 125 in India. With the rapid spread of coronavirus, the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) pushed IPL 2020 which was scheduled to start from March 29th. As of now, the tournament was pushed to April 15th and BCCI considered of holding the tournament in closed stadiums which would not be open for spectators. The visas for the foreign players are put on hold till April 15th. BCCI conducted a meeting with the eight IPL franchise owners through a teleconference yesterday.

BCCI made it clear that the tournament will be cancelled if the situations fail to improve. As per the worrying situations, IPL 2020 will not happen said a source from the BCCI. The IPL franchise owners are open for the decision and they said that they are ready to support any decision that is made by the BCCI. It is still pre-mature as there are no positive signs as of now. If the situations get better, the number of league matches may come down from 57 to 28.

Each team will be playing twice with the other seven teams and if IPL happens this year, each team will get only one match with the other seven teams. The number of venues too will come down if the matches are reduced.
