The ongoing five-Test series has chosen the winner and it's none other than India. India has won the match against England by an innings and 36 runs to win the five-match series 3-0.
As a coach, Anil Kumble said, "India has lost the toss three times in this series and has still gone on to win the series. That just goes to show why they are the No. 1 team in the world and have the potential to repeat the same overseas."
Ravichandran Ashwin ended by 55/6 and 12 wickets in the match. This is Ashwin's 7th 10-wicket catch in Tests, he is now just one behind Kumble, who holds the record for most number of 10-wicket haul in Test matches for India.
Virat Kohli was declared the Man of the Match for his match-winning 235 in the first innings.
"There are players who love to take responsibility in adverse situations. Kohli is one of those," Kris Srikkanth, who was the chairman of selectors when Kohli made his Test debut, told TOI.
"When we selected him for Tests back in 2011, there was criticism, but we could see the obvious talent and his ability to rise to the occasion," added Srikkanth.
"I have seen Kohli from a young age. Below the facade of flamboyance, there's a very responsible boy. He knows he is in great form and this is the time to maximize. More so, his team needs bigger contributions than just the landmark of a century," NCA batting coach WV Raman said.
