Sunil Gavaskar lauds Kohli, AB de Villiers

Royal Challengers Bangalore had taken batting to another level, AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli did their best, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar says.

On Tuesday, RCB beat Gujarat Lions by 4 wickets in Qualifier 1, to march into the IPL final.

After crumbling to 29 for five, RCB seemed to be down, but de Villiers (79 not out off 47 balls) single-handedly lead the team's fightback and brought it into the winning zone.

Speaking on the issue, Gavaskar said, “AB and Virat have taken batting to another level. AB's flicked six off Jakati from a sweep-playing position was unbelievable. I thought he would play a scoop but it went miles over square leg.”

After the super victory, RCB are into their 3rd IPL final and one step away from their maiden title. On the other hand, Lions will have another chance to make the summit clash in the Qualifier 2 in Delhi, this Friday.

"AB de Villiers made every inch of the outfield burn. He can do anything," Gavaskar said.

Kohli, who roared in the IPL 9 with 919 runs, had to get back this time with the bat, but his captaincy and fielding, once again witnessed   applause.

“Kohli's commitment is supreme. Despite stitches he gave his best in the field," Gavaskar said, adding that, "RCB are playing terrific cricket. Anything can happen, but I think RCB will emerge as champions.”
