Australia tour: Left arm seamers preferred in India team!

After 2011 World Cup triumph, a settled bowling attack has turned as the biggest challenge in the limited overs cricket.

The selectors are still in search of a right combination of seamers. When the selectors though of picking up a squad for the limited overs tour of Australia, which is going to be held from January 12th, changes in the seam bowling department are in the offing. India will play five ODIs and three T20Is against Australia in this matches.

If the sources are to be believed, Punjab left-arm seamer Brainder Sran's name is under the consideration. Reacting to the same, a selection committee official said, “There could be a surprise pick in Sran. A lot of people are excited about him and being a left-arm pacer helps his cause. If they had to blood him in, this tour won't be a bad one.”

Sran had an experience of playing one IPL for Rajasthan Royals, to go with his 34 wickets, from 11 first-class games and 14 wickets in six matches, in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Speaking further, the official said that, they are considering a variation in the pace unit which, helps in restricting the flow of runs. Regarding this, the officials are currently in search of a left arm seamer, whom they are considering, would show more variations, than the regular right arm seamer.

Even another official from the committee spoke on the possibilities of selecting Sran saying, “He has the potential to play at the next level. It will be interesting to see if the selectors take the risk to blood him in now.”

After Ishanth missed the world cup due to injury, he could not find the place in limited overs match and even Shami is away from the international match, after the world cup.

Sources say that Mohammad Shami, who led the India team in the World Cup, is likely to make a comeback post an injury-forced layoff irrespective of his form.
