IPL: Punjab ruins Chennai, Bangalore upsets Delhi

Oh what a day at the fifth session of Indian Premier League was on Thursday. The 66 and 67 matches played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium Dharmasala and Feroze Shah Kotla Delhi saw the stalwarts on the points table being tamed by lesser known teams. At Dharmasala the Kings XI Punjab defeated the Chennai Super Kings, while at Delhi the Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated the home team Delhi Dare Devils.

Punjab ruins Chennai:
Punjab wins the toss and elected to field. Dwayne Bravo was the lone star performer in the camp for the day, scoring 48 runs. Chennai wound up at 120/7. Miserable play by Chennai led them to a colossal loss. On the other hand Punjab captain Adam Gilchrist was the man of the day and single handedly drove his team towards success. While bowling Gilchrist was a part of sending four Chennai players back to the stands, and in batting he slammed an undaunted 64 runs and remained not out to claim the Man of the Match honors.

Bangalore upsets Delhi:
Delhi wins the toss and elected to field. The Delhi stadium was hit by Gayle storm in the first half and he went on to score 128 runs and remained not out.  Chris Gayle was the tough man who scripted the Bangalore victory with his impeccable willow display. His massive ton included 7 boundaries and sixteen sixes. Bangalore scored 215/1 runs with Virat Kohli scoring 73 runs. Delhi on the other hand ended up miserably and scored 194/9, 22 runs short of victory. Of course Gayle claimed the Man of the Match honors.  (With Inputs from Internet- Aarkay)
