After Mohammad Amir’s delivery was hit on Rohit Sharma’s left toe on Saturday, the latter underwent a precautionary X-Ray, yesterday.
The team management, after noticing Rohit’s struggle to walk properly, then decided to get the correct picture and regarding this, they have chose to get the tests done.
Speaking about Rohit, the team officials said, “Rohit had complained of soreness. There is no damage to his foot, and he is currently undergoing recovery under the medical staff.”
After Shikhar Dhawan, who was injured in the past on his left ankle with Pakistan clash at Fatullah, now Rohit joins the injury list. As of now, the team management has not taken any decision on the replacement till now.
“I don't think we should jump the gun. Rohit's injury isn't serious enough for us to press the panic button and ask for replacements at this point of time. There is absolutely nothing to worry e official added. Skipper MS about,” the official added. Skipper MS Dhoni too hasn't been fit, and is playing despite back spasms. "I am just about managing,” was all Dhoni was ready to reveal on his condition. If Rohit fails to achieve full fitness by Tuesday, the team management has the option of bringing in Parthiv Patel in the playing XI against Sri Lanka.
“Having Parthiv in the squad does give us a lot of options. But, it would all boil down to how Rohit feels in the next few days,” the official said.
Showering positive rains on Dhawan fans, the official added, “He had a niggle and we didn't want to aggravate, it any further (by playing him on Saturday). But he is better now.”
