Hyundai Plans to Increase Production of Creta by 25 percent

Hyundai has been on a roll with the sales of the Creta, which has done remarkably well for the Korean manufacturer, since its launch. However, it has also added to the waiting periods for the Hyundai, which will increase further during the festive season.

So, anticipating this increase in demand, Hyundai has planned to increase the production of the Creta SUV by about 25 percent. Since the rise in demand during the festive season will increase the waiting periods, Hyundai is already prepared to take the high volume sales that is bound to happen during this period.

TheĀ Hyundai reportedly announced the same after the launch of the D-segment executive sedan, the Elantra, early in the week. The Korean automaker's Indian arm already ramped up production to 12,500 units in February 2016 and subsequently 13,000 units in July 2016.

Still, the demand couldn't be met, as the waiting period kept going up to two months for some of the trims of the Creta. It has been constant that way with some of the other variants taking up to one and a half months.

The Creta sold 7,981 units last month, in July 2016, topping the segment, while it ranked 11th in terms of total number of car sales for the month. The Grand i10 and the Elite i20 are the top selling models for the Hyundai, with Creta ranking the third.

Besides the domestic sales and the domestic market for the Hyundai Creta in India, the international market is also ripe for the SUV. It gets exported to over 45 countries in Africa and South America. With further expansion to retailing in more markets, the demand for the Hyundai Creta SUV is sure to rise, while the manufacturer is also expected to increase capacity, at the same time to meet the demand.
