Drinking fewer units of Alcohol is harmful says a Study:- Consumption of alcohol is injurious to health. A study by Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) brought some shocking revelations. The entire research has been published in the journal Clinical Nutrition and it said that drinking less than 14 units of alcohol per week increases the risk of cardiovascular issues like heart attack and cerebrovascular disease. The study has been conducted on 35,000 UK residents that are aged between 40 and 69 from the data that is obtained from the UK Biobank Study. The samples of 3,33,259 people are collected. The alcohol intake had wine, beer and spirits and their alcohol intake has been assessed after which their health records are analyzed.
All those who suffered from a previous cardiovascular event were excluded from the survey. The research said that all those who drank less than 14 units of alcohol in a week had a 23 percent increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. The authors revealed that the moderate alcohol consumption is not good for health. Lead author Dr Rudolph Schutte, course leader for the BSc Hons Medical Science programme and Associate Professor at ARU told alcohol consumption is the biggest myth and those with less than 14 units a week have a high risk of cardiovascular diseases.
