They might be far off India but that doesn't stop them from celebrating the festivals of the country with utmost pomp. Yes, we are talking about NRIs. Many NRIs crave to be on the home land to celebrate one of the biggest festivals of the years, Sankranti. Be it due to work schedules or unavailability of flight tickets, many people may not turn up to India. Nonetheless, they do celebrate Sankranti in such a way that sometimes make people think—probably we don't celebrate the festival with so much devotion.
Just like any year, this year too Sankranti celebrations touched peak in many parts of the United States of America. Yummy dishes right out of fire, colourful rangoli, new traditional threads and nonetheless kites—NRIs didn't skip any of these items this festival too. A large number of people gathered at selected venues to fly kites while many exchanged sweets and also sweet wishes. All in all, NRIs told the world the sweetness of Indian festival yet another time. It might be an old statement, but it's, in fact, the right one—East or West India is the best and so is the festival of the country.
