UK to crack its whip against NRI house owners

A bad news to NRI persons in UK as the British Government is all set to crack its whip on landlords in the country who had been allegedly extending the construction of their houses and renting them for illegal immigrants at higher prices. While UK had released 1.8 million to put a check to the illegal landlords, most of them are reportedly from Indian origin.

The housing minister Grant Shapps allocated the huge amount after forming a special taskforce to deal with the issue. The officials dealing this issue have said that tenants are often being exploited and they would fear approaching the authorities due to their illegal immigration status.

The task force has also stated that most of the illegal immigrants are from India and they approach landlords of India origin for bed-in-sheds. On noticing the hazardous and dangerous living conditions of illegal immigrants, and also to put a check to exploitation by landlords, the UK Government handed over the duty of cracking whip on illegal landlords to the special task force.   (Phani)
