Telangana Gearing Up To Launch Three More Policies:- The State of Telangana is now gearing up to launch three more policies for food processing, automotive and electric vehicles shortly, said Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries and Commmerce. This move of the government is encouraged by the response that it has got for its popular industrial policy TS-iPASS, IT and other sectoral policies.

Attracting investments from the respective players will be the focus of the first two, while the electric vehicles policy will also spell out benefits for end users, said Mr. Ranjan.

Addressing at the the Man’Exe-2107 Make In Telangana” Creating Sustainable and Globally Competitive Ecosystem he said for the next seven years, the State is also working on a perspective plans. The event was organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry.

“These plans are not just related to IT or related aspects. All departments including agriculture and allied are working on the plans. In the three years that Telangana has come into being, we have achieved good success. Three new States that were formed in 2000 are still evolving. This could well have been the situation of Telangana too but for the development vision of the Government. Among others, TS-iPASS has been a path breaking policy document that has got wide recognition. Now, our focus is to make known the potential and opportunities that Telangana has across sectors. We have kept 2024 in mind, when it will be ten years of the State formation,” the official said.

Shortly, the food processing policy will be readied. “The policy will be ready before the India Food Expo event to be held next month at Delhi. We will showcase it there,” the official told a leading news paper on the sidelines.

For the electric vehicles, the draft is ready. Some incentives for end users who want to shift from petrol/diesel vehicles to electric vehicles will also be included in the draft. Apart from this, it will look to attract manufacturing players, charging infrastructure providers and ancillaries.

Centre of Excellence (CoE) for manufacturing

A CoE for manufacturing in partnership with the industry, will also be set up by the government. With this, the manufacturing segment in the state will be promoted and will address issues surrounding the sector. Moreover, he asked the industry to adopt ITIs and help in enhancing their productivity. That could also help them in tackling the shortage of skilled labor.

The Telangana Academy of Skills and Knowledge (TASK) was nurtured by the Telangana State for creating skilled manpower. Earlier, the focus areas were IT, ITeS and now it has opened it up for banking, financial services and insurance, aerospace and defence and life sciences segments, he said.
