US-based InFocus foray into the Indian market with its smartphone 'M2', priced at Rs 4,999, as it looks to compete with domestic giants like Micromax and Intex. It features a 4.2-inch display, 1 GB RAM, 1.3 GHz quadcore processor and Android KitKat operating system. It has 8 GB internal memory (expandable up to 64 GB), 8 MP cameras - both at the back and front, and 2,010 mAh battery. The M2 will be sold through e-commerce firm Snapdeal.Com.
Entry of M2 into the Indian market will initiate a healthy competition in the smartphone market, mainly in the basic segment. India is seen as the biggest market for smartphone. The government of India’s initiative on smart cities will further expand the market. The smartphone manufacturing giant makes an exclusive variant targeting India. The stiff competition in this field is definitely to the customer’s choice.
