Mukesh Ambani's wife Nita Ambani has officially joined the Reliance Industries Ltd [RIL] today. Her appointment was confirmed in the Annual General Meeting [AGM] held today in Mumbai. With this, Nita is the first woman to be appointed as the Director on Board of the RIL.
The Shareholders of RIL were informed regarding Nita's induction in the RIL. Speaking on the occasion, Mukesh said, “Nita has been involved in many activities related to RIL. Reliance Foundation, Mumbai Indians IPL team, Dhirubhai Ambani International Schools and delighted to welcome her on the Board.”
Nita played a significant role in Reliance's Jamanagar Refinery site by implementing a biodiversity plan covering 3.2 million trees over 2000 acres and her contribution to the Reliance Retail is highly appreciated.
In this AGM, RIL also said it will invest Rs 1.8 lakh crore across businesses in the next three years and launch the much-awaited 4G broadband services in 2015. Reliance wants to break-into top 50 companies of the world. Currently Reliance is ranked 135th position.
