SBI Asks MD to Go on Leave

As CBI is investigating on a graft case on one of the MDs, SBI stated, "We have been informed by the Central Bureau of Investigation that Shyamal Acharya, deputy managing director and group executive (mid corporate groups) of our bank is being investigated. Acharya has been asked to proceed on leave. We have also constituted an internal committee comprising two senior managing directors to investigate internally".  The statement did not reveal the names of the two MDs probing internally.

CBI filed an economic offence case against Acharya, former SBI General Manager K K Kumarah and Chairman of Worlds Window Group Piyoosh Goyal.  Goyal seeking for a loan of Rs.100 crore wanted to get it through Kumarah and agreement was drawn between them as per which Goyal has to pay Rs.25 lakh to Kumarah and Rs.15 lakh to Acharya.

CBI caught them on tip off when Goyal bought two Rolex watches worth Rs.8 lakh each and remaining amount was to be paid in cash. CBI then carried search at the residences of Acharya, Kumarah and Goyal to establish the fact.
