Mittal row garners support from UK

London Mayor Boris Johnson outwardly mocked the French government over the way it handled the Mittal row. The steel baron Lakshmi Narayan Mittal case was a humiliating one meted out to a business man by a government body.

On the other hand the Mayor had welcomed the Indian business tribe to set up shop floors in UK. This was revealed by the Mayor on Tuesday (November 27), in response to the verdict given by the French  Industry Minister Arnaud Montebourg on Monday.

In his statement the French Min stated that Mittal who acquired French Arcelor in 2006, was not required in France any more due to his unkept promises. The statement signalling that the two furnaces in Northeastern France would be closed shortly.

However the welcome for Indian investors was taken forward by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Chairman Subhash V. Takkar during a meeting in India organized by the Confederation of India Industry (CII). He claimed that this was the right moment to launch in UK when there was a down turn in the foreign country.

He specified that the opportunity and resources in UK coupled with Indian brains and skills could be a success formula on mutually beneficial terms for both the countries.

The exit in France could very well pave way, for the top leaders to UK with enough opportunities that shall give the necessary impetus for prospects. (AarKay)
