Renault Scala now in both petrol, diesel versions

Renault Scala now in petrol and diesel variants are available from Renault India's stable. Scala is the ultimate luxury sedan, powered by 1.5 litre fuels engine and with a  5-speed manual transmission. The greatness of the vehicle is that nearly 80-85 percent of parts have been locally sources. Thereby making the sedan competitive in economy, with its rivals. The sedan is priced between Rs.6.99 lakh and Rs.9.57 lakh for the petrol and diesel variants. As per a source from the company they propose to sell 30,000-35,000 units and topi it up by one lakh units in 2013.

Launched in the C Segment sedan of Indian car market, Renault says Scala competes with the likes of Skoda Rapid, Maruti SX4, Hyundai Verna, Honda City, and Volkswagen Vento. Renault says, their target audience is the one who would like to be chauffeur driven, thanks to to the king-sized legroom. The other luxuries in the car include leather seating, rear vents for the climate control and two cup holders in the rear armrest attend to the boss in the back. An 86-horsepower diesel and a 99-hp gas engine take care of matters up front. Available now in three trims, it joins the Pulse hatch, Fluence sedan, and Koleos.

Renault India recently launched the Duster an economical SUV. The company will start export of Duster to the UK by the end of this year. Duster is now turned as a rage in the youth who prefer suvs. But that response for the Scala are likely not possible with this pricing feel our auto experts. (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)
