Chennai based Franco-Japanese Renault-Nissan Alliance which launched its Renault Duster in India recently, or to be precise just a week ago has won accolades from one and all. The issue becomes conspicuous with the tremendous response received by the company. As per sources,  Renault Duster, the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), is the cheapest variant available in the world and has received thumbs-up from 6,000 buyers. At Rs 7.2 lakh (Petrol), Renault Duster is one of the cheapest SUVs in the world. It comes with a special rear air conditioning, an Indian need. India will be the global manufacturing hub for its right-hand drive model.

Experts predict that Renault Duster is on the brink of making a big shift in the Indian auto industry, with the tumultous bookings received with in a week. The difference is that many were aspiring for such a vehicle but the price was the constraint. Renault Duster has made the Indian dream come true with it's comfort pricing for global standards. Also the base price of the Diesel version which costs around Rs 7.99 lakh is also with in the reach of the aspiring middle class, say sources. Renault Duster has many advantages. Basically it's a spacious car with a dependable and robust engine mated to a solid design. Inspite of a comparitively lower brand value of Renault in India, the large scale bookings are sure to boost the brand equity of the manufacturer, say experts.

Renault Duster does a tad over 20 kmpl in its diesel avatar, while the petrol version runs 13-km-plus for every litre. The company has plans to bump up its dealerships from 55 to 100 by the end of the year. Renault Duster which runs on petrol is fitted with a 1.6 litre engine and has been tagged at Rs 7.19 lakh and Rs 8.19 lakh. The diesel engine on the other hand has a 1.5 litre engine and is priced between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 11.29 lakh. However, engines and prices apart, both variants have similar tech specs and features.
