Tata to Introduce 1.9 Liter Diesel Engine with the Hexa and Safari Storme
August 29, 2016 12:00
Tata is planning to launch its first engine of diesel in its variants Hexa and Safari Storme. The date has not been fixed, however the year has been zeroed down to 2017.
Hexa is designed and engineered to replace Tata Aria. It will however have the same power that is found in Safari Storme, 2.2 liters powered diesel engine with a specification of Varicor 400. The new addition with Hexa as well as with Safari Storme is the motor of diesel with a capacity of 1.9 liters. It is not a replacement though.
With Hexa comes with six speed gearbox that is either manually or automatically operated. On the other hand, the Safari Storme has the manual feature.
With the news of the ban of diesel in Delhi spreading like wild fire, many Car giants had counter plans to survive the sudden attack. Carmakers like Mahindra, Toyota and Tata made plans to pave their way through this upcoming crisis. Mahindra added diesel motor of 1.99 liters in its XUV500. The same motor was used in its Scorpio. Now it is on the verge of introducing petrol engines for the above variants. Toyota on the other hand without having worked on its diesel engines that already exist, launched a new petrol engine of 2.7 liters capacity. Tata, defying all odds doesn't intend to make such launches.
The one tough competitor for the Hexa will undoubtedly be the Innova Crysta of Toyota. It therefore when launched has to be priced keeping it mind Toyota's stronghold of the same segment in the market.
The launch date is estimated to be between January and June of the year 2017. We wish Tata "All the Best".
