Skoda to Launch Octavia vRS as Limited Edition Model in India

The high performance version of the Stylish premium sedan Skoda Octavia is likely to reenter India soon with a vRS badge. The vRS is the high-powered badge of the sedan manufactured by the Czech carmaker. The Skoda Octavia vRS made its debut in the Indian market in 2004 as a limited edition model. Since then, it caught the fancies of the European markets and made a name for itself. Now, the same is to be introduced in India with slightly altered specs, features and visual enhancements.

The 2004 version, launched in India, saw a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine tuned to 150 PS. The European version, however, saw a slightly up-tuned 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol mill producing up to 220 PS. So, it could reach 0-100 kmph within just 6.8 seconds and the top speed is pegged at a suave 248 kmph.

The diesel mill, on the other hand, is tuned to develop 184 PS, taking 8.1 seconds to reach 100 kmph and to accelerate to a top speed of 232 kmph. The gearboxes were optional with a manual 6-speed gearbox and a 6-speed DSG that could be mated with both the petrol and diesel motors.

The Indian-spec motor will be set to different states of tune to suit Indian conditions and tastes. Similarly, there will also be some visual changes-with a revised bolder front-grille with vRS badge and larger air dams. The Indian Octavia vRS will sport larger alloy wheels. The rear spoiler will be revised as well.

The vRS badge will be embossed on the steering wheel, headrests of seats, gear knob and the door sills. The larger sports bucket seats look highly comfortable as well as appealing. With all these enhanced features, the vRS could likely be launched as a limited edition model in India.
