Maruti Suzuki has recently put a product presentation regarding the forthcoming Maruti Celerio diesel, slides of these were photographed and is leaked online. This leak has provided a massive load of information about the much awaited Celerio diesel.
Maruti Suzuki to introduce its first in-house developed diesel engine, debuting in the Celerio. Maruti claims that the Celerio’s diesel engine is the lightest available in the country today, weighing merely 89 kilos. The 800cc unit is the lightest diesel engine in the passenger car segment, courtesy of the aluminium intensive construction and super small turbocharger. In conjunction with other frugal engineering, this engine pushes the B-segment Celerio to deliver maximum possible mileage of 27.62 kmpl. Celerio diesel will be competing with Chevrolet Beat, Hyundai Grand i10 and Tata's upcoming Kite.
This diesel motor is a 793 cc, 2-cylinder unit which produces 47 BHP at 3,500 rpm and 125 Nm of max torque at 2,000 rpm. The ARAI fuel efficiency figure for this motor stands at 27.62 km/l, making it India's most fuel efficient diesel cars. It is also going to be equipped with a new hydraulic clutch. Other features include hydraulic clutch, new generation 5 speed manual transmission, optimized gear ratio, effortless gear shift, optimized engine load on the clutch pedal and clutch release system.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio diesel variant will be seen in four variants that include LDi, VDi, ZDi and ZDi (O) as is seen on its petrol engine. Entry level LDi variant includes beige/black interiors, digital clock, distance to empty, mileage indicator, AC, with heater, body coloured bumpers, accessory socket, key reminder, door ajar warning, and power steering.
LDi+ gets front and rear power window, 5 door central locking, two action door unlock, 60:40 split seat, day-night IRVM, rear parcel shelf, co-driver vanity mirror, full wheel cover.
VDi+ you get driver airbag, audio with Bluetooth, auto unlock on crash, steering mounted audio controls, electric adjust for ORVMs, turn indicator on ORVM, tachometer, keyless entry, rear wiper and defogger, tilt steering, body coloured door handles and ORVM.
ZDi+ gets everything above, and – co-driver airbag, ABS with EBD, alloys wheels, security system, front fog lamps, and height adjustable driver seat.
