This Tamil Nadu Temple Serves Biryani As Prasad:- A small village named Vadakkampatti near Thirumangalam in Tamil Nadu located in Madurai district hosts an annual temple festival and they serve biryani as prasad during the festival. This is served for everyone who walked into Vadakkampatti on January 25th every year. The temple authorities offer mutton biryani as prasad during their annual temple festival and this is a tradition that is being followed from the past 83 years.
The three day festival starts in Muniyandi swamy temple located in Vadakkampatti. 2000 kgs of rice along with mutton are cooked over the night to serve the people. Over 50 vessels of biryani is cooked on firewood stoves and is offered at 4 AM. The first batch is offered to everyone from 5 AM. The temple authorities revealed that biryani is served for everyone without any discrimination. Lot of people sit for the meal and some of them carry utensils to take the biryani home.
Lord Muniyandi is a huge fan of biryani and last year 1800 kgs of biryani was served which is cooked from 200 goats and 250 roosters. The Muniyandi Temple biryani festival takes from January 24th to 26th in Vadakkampatti which is over 45 kms from Madurai city.
