Potato-Sized Kidney Stone Removed From Telangana Man:- In a shocking incident, Hyderabad doctors managed to remove a potato-sized stone from a man's kidney. The incident took place in Krishna Institute of Medical Hospitals (KIMS) and the stone measured eight centimeters and it occupied the entire left kidney. The stone has been removed by conducting an open kidney surgery. The 39-year old man is a farmer from Karimnagar and he complained of pain in the left flank after which he got operated. Neil N Trivedi, consultant urologist located a large stone in the left kidney and got it removed.
The doctors were surprised as the kidney function hasn't been damaged despite of the large stone. The doctors revealed that they planned for Anatrophic Nephrolithotomy - a surgery in which the kidney is completely split to remove the stone. The doctors also confirmed that the patient recovered well and he was discharged recently. This is a case of silent kidney stones and will show no symptoms.
