Imagine settling down for a peaceful flight, only to realize you've been served a wormy sandwich. That, there, could put you off commercial flying even before you fear a plane crash.

An Air India flier aboard New York- Delhi light got a shocker when he discovered wriggly worms in his sandwich.

The incident reportedly took place on Air India flight (AI102) with a Rajouri Garden resident who ordered for a sandwich and was served one that had worms.

“He at once complained with Air India authorities at the airport after arriving in Delhi on September 28, but claimed to have not received a response for a fortnight about the action taken in that regard,” revealed TOI.

When asked, an Air India spokesperson said that "suitable action had already been taken against the caterer".

Brushing aside the incident as "very rare", he further said, "We get our food prepared by the best caterers under very hygienic conditions" He also said that Air India follows the "strictest procedure" for selecting a caterer and that the chances of this happening is as good as none.

Did that discourage you from preferring a flight journey yet? With the kind of trouble the Indian domestic airline companies are facing with their declining businesses, one would imagine they would at least serve appetizing food. Slurp, smack!
