Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy quits YSRCP, to join TDP:- On Wednesday, Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, the Member of Parliament from Ongole, resigned from the YSR Congress party. Despite his earlier assurance to Nellore MP Adala Prabhakara Reddy that he would not leave the party, Magunta's resignation was expected for some time. Previously a TDP MP from Ongole, he may now join the TDP and nominate his son, Raghava Reddy, as the MP candidate from Ongole in the upcoming elections. Both Srinivasulu Reddy and Raghava Reddy have been implicated in the Delhi Liquor Scam and have turned approvers. Raghava Reddy was briefly imprisoned by the Enforcement Directorate but was later released on bail. Srinivasulu Reddy, who had hoped to be nominated again by the YSR Congress, was disappointed by the decision of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to select Chevireddy Bhaskara Reddy as the candidate for the Ongole Lok Sabha seat.

The suggestion made by Srinivasulu Reddy to nominate Raghava Reddy as a Member of Parliament candidate from Ongole could potentially create an uncomfortable situation for TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu. This is because both the MP and his son have been accused in the Delhi Liquor Policy case, which is being investigated by the EED under the supervision of Home Minister Amit Shah, who is a prominent member of the BJP. The BJP might also not be in favor of this arrangement, especially since they are strongly opposing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Admi Party (AAP).
