Gitam University Defamation Case: Sakshi ordered to pay 5 Lakhs:- Sakshi media has a jolt from the second additional court of Vizag. Court has ordered Sakshi to pay Rs 5 Lakhs as a defamation settlement to Gitam University for their false news on Gitam University back in 2010.

According to Gitam University in 2010, Sakshi published a news stating that Gitam University was built on grabbed lands. MVVS Murthy, chief of Gitam University filed a defamation suit for the news. After several long years, Vizag's second additional court has ordered Sakshi to 5 Lakhs amount with 12 per cent interest from the day article was published and with 6 per cent interest till the date of payment from the day the judgement is out.

Gitam University claimed that 2005, the lands were allotted to them in by farmer chief minister of Andhra Pradesh late YSR to construct Gitam University. Court believed in Gitam and hammered Sakshi.

This is a big jolt to the media, as recently news are only claims and not authenticated. YSRCP’s mouthpiece Sakshi has to face this defamation and can challenge the order passed by divisional court in higher court.
