YS Jagan's Move to Rename NTR Health University Triggers Criticism:- The government of Andhra Pradesh decided to rename the NTR Health University as YSR Health University and this triggered criticism across the state. The leading opposition party TDP staged protests against the move. Several leaders and supporters came on to the roads and protested on the roads against the YSRCP government for the move. The Assembly and the Legislative Council ended up in ruckus. The legislators of TDP stalled all the proceedings and demanded the government to drop the plans. All the TDP legislators are suspended from the Assembly for protesting against the government. After the Speaker Tammineni Sitaram ordered, the marshals pulled and lifted the legislators from the house.
TDP legislators started the day with the slogans 'Johar NTR' and 'NTR Amar Rahe'. The health university is named after late NTR and after years, YSRCP proposed to rename the university after former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy. TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidiu slammed YS Jagan for his move. He asked the people of the state to strongly oppose the decision made by the government of Andhra Pradesh. He questioned that the University was formed by NTR and it cannot be renamed. The security was beefed up at the NTR Health University in Vijayawada. Hundreds of TDP leaders and supporters reached the university premises to protest. Devineni Uma and other leaders of Vijayawada are arrested. NTR Health University was formed in 1986.
