Konaseema Protest: 144 Section imposed in Amalapuram:- Protests broke out after the name of the district in Andhra Pradesh was changed and violent situations are reported. Hundreds of protestors reached the roads in Amalapuram and the cops could not control the crowds which led to a lathi charge. Hundreds of people reached the district collector's office as they opposed the renaming of Konaseema district as BR Ambedkar Konaseema district. After the new districts are announced, Konaseema district was formed from East Godavari district. Last week, the government of Andhra Pradesh issued a notification by renaming the district as BR Ambedkar Konaseema district and this triggered violence and objections from the people.

Several cops are injured in the incident. Chalo Konaseema March took place by the Konaseema Sadhana Samithi. A police vehicle along with a school bus were damaged and set on fire. The office of the Transport Minister Pinipe Vishwaroop is attacked and completely damaged. The houses of AP Minister Pinipe Vishwaroop and MLA Ponnada Satish are set on fire and they are completely damaged. The fire tenders were brought to the spot but the houses were damaged completely. The cops arrested hundreds of people who participated in the protest. Section 144 has been imposed and the mobile networks are suspended temporarily till the situation comes into control.
