Coronavirus daily tally crosses 50,000 mark:- A total number of 53,476 new cases are reported in the country in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra and Gujarat are the states with a huge hike in the daily cases in the country. The total tally of cases in the country reached 1,17,87,534 and the total number of recoveries in the country are said to be 1,12,31,650. The number of active cases stands at 3,95,192 and the death toll in the country reached 1,60,692. The total number of people who took coronavirus vaccination in India are said to be 5,31,45,709. 251 new deaths are reported in India in the last 23 hours. The Ministry of Health reported that a new double mutant variant is found in almost 18 states and union territories of the country. Maharashtra alone reported 206 such cases.

The Centre said that Maharashtra and Punjab are the states of grave concern with the recent surge in the cases. Maharashtra alone reported 31,855 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours which is quite alarming. Mumbai and Pune reported a huge number of cases on daily basis. Punjab stands next to Maharashtra with 2613 new cases. The active cases in India remained less than 1.5 lakh for two months and it jumped close to 4 lakhs in just two weeks. Gujarat, Delhi and Haryana banned the public celebrations of Holi. The vaccination drive is increased in the country and the Centre also asked the states to increase the RT-PCR tests in the coming days by 70 percent. A total number of 2,03,000 people are fined in Maharashtra till date for not wearing masks. The total number of reported cases of coronavirus in Maharashtra till date are said to be 25.64 lakhs.
