Telangana on High Alert after UK Returnees Tested Positive for Coronavirus:- The new strain of coronavirus in the United Kingdom is making the world sleepless and is the new tension for the mankind. The spread of the new strain is said to be 70 percent more faster than the novel coronavirus. With one more person who travelled from the United Kingdom and returned back to Telangana tested positive for coronavirus, the total number of returnees tested positive reached 21. Director of Public Health (DPH), Dr G Srinivasa Rao informed the news and their samples are sent to the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) for genome sequencing. The tests would make it clear if they are infected with the new strain B 1.1.7. The results are expected to be out in the coming days told the health authorities.

Out of the 21 tested positive, 4 of them are from Hyderabad, 9 are from Medchal-Malkajgiri district, 2 are from Jagityal and one each are from Nalgonda, Mancherial, Sangareddy, Rangareddy, Warangal Urban and Siddipet. The Telangana Health officials identified 1216 individuals who travelled from the United Kingdom to Telangana. 154 travellers are yet to be traced and the Health Officials requested to contact them to the helpline numbers. The state is kept on high alert and are worried that the new strain may have spread to lot of people as the UK returnees have come in contact with their relatives and others on their arrival. Telangana Chief Minister KCR instructed the officials to be focused and take immediate steps to prevent the spread.
