Dowry Issue: Bengaluru Woman Set on Fire by Husband and Father-in-law:- In a horrifying incident, a 25-year-old pan shop owner poured petrol on his 20-year-old wife over dowry issue and set her on fire. The incident took place in TC Palya in the limits of Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station. The incident saw the light this weekend though it took place on Tuesday. Suraj Singh and his father Lavaneesh Singh are arrested today at 11:30 AM in relation to this case after a complaint was registered. It has come to the notice of the cops that Suraj and his father Lavaneesh harassed the woman since September 23rd to bring a dowry of Rs 20 lakhs. The fights increased from October 6th said the cops.

The woman filed a complaint that Suraj Singh and Lavaneesh Singh demanded Rs 20 lakhs or asked her to leave the house. When the woman refused to ask her parents about the same, her husband and father-in-law poured petrol on her. She was unconscious and when she woke up, there were burns on her body. She ran out of the house and the neighbors helped her and doused the flames. The woman is currently getting treated in Balaji Nursing Home and she is slowly recovering. The woman suffered third-degree burns on her lower part of the body told the hospital authorities.

The cops registered an FIR under the sections 498A of dowry harassment, 307 of an attempt to murder, 506 of criminal intimidation and 34 of common intention against Suraj and Lavaneesh. The two men are absconding and they are taken into custody on Saturday. The investigation is currently going on.
