Telangana Secretariat Demolition Stalled

Telangana Secretariat Demolition Stalled:- The High Court of Telangana rejected all the petitions and asked the state government to go ahead with the construction of the new Secretariat. The government immediately started the demolition process of the old Secretariat buildings during this coronavirus season. A retired professor PL Vishweshwara Rao filed a petition in the High Court of Telangana to stop the demolition process of the Telangana Secretariat buildings during this coronavirus season. The petitioner said that the pollution due to the demolition reached new levels during this coronvirus season. The High Court immediately asked the government to put the demolition process on hold.

The petitioner said that the residents residing across the neighboring regions of the Secretariat are struggling with breathing problems. The High Court asked the demolition works to be put on hold until further notice. The Telangana government has been asked to submit a report about the safety measures that are taken by the government during the demolition. As per today, 60% of the buildings are demolished. The demolition of the temple and mosque also triggered controversies. Telangana Chief Minister KCR himself responded saying that a temple, church and a mosque would be constructed in the new Secretariat premises.

The Telangana Secretariat is spread across 25.5 acres and the Telangana government allocated Rs 500 crores for the new buildings.
