Five Indian States To Receive Coronavirus Drug:- India is one of the badly hit nations due to coronavirus. As per the update today, the total number of registered cases are said to be 4.73 lakhs and the total deaths stand at 14,894. Hetero, Hyderabad based drug maker got the approval to manufacture and market the generic version of coronavirus drug named Remdesivir. The drug would be available in five Indian states including Maharashtra and New Delhi which are said to be the most impacted states of the country. Remdesivir is being marketed under the brand name COVIFOR and a bunch of 20,000 vials will be sent soon.
Hetero already made it clear that a 100 mg of COVIFOR will cost Rs 5400. Hetero is in plans to produce one lakh vials in the next four weeks in Hyderabad. The next batch of the drug will be sent to Kolkata, Indore, Bhopal, Lucknow, Patna, Bhubaneshwar, Ranchi, Vijayawada, Kochi, Trivandrum and Goa. Hetero also clarified that the drug will be sold only through hospitals and government and not through retail outlets. Regulator Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has approved the generic versions made by Cipla and Hetero.
