AP Government Suspends The Auction Of Tirumala Properties

The Andhra Pradesh government decided to auction some of the properties owned by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD). After facing the backlash from all the corners, the government of Andhra Pradesh called off the proposal as of now saying that it was put on hold. AP Government wanted to go for a public auction for the properties of TTD in various parts of the state. The government of AP faced the wrath from the opposition parties. Tirumala Venkateswara temple happens to be the famous hill shrine. AP Government wanted to sell 50 immovable properties located in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Rishikesh. AP has 26 properties, Tamil Nadu has 23 properties and one in Rishikesh.

The AP Government collected the feedback and it directed TTD to reconsider the decision after holding a discussion with the stakeholders and religious elders. The government bent to the sentiments of the devotees and stepped back from the proposal. The state government issued an order and all the 50 properties will be kept in abeyance till things get finalized. The Executive Officer of TTD will take the necessary action in this regard and he will submit the report at the earliest. There was a huge political storm on this decision after TDP, Janasena, BJP strongly opposed the decision. Before the issue turned big, the government of Andhra Pradesh decided to put the auction on hold.
