New Drug Can Stop Coronavirus Without Vaccine Says Chinese Lab:- A laboratory-based in China is currently busy developing a new drug and it believes that it has the power to bring coronavirus pandemic to complete control. After the coronavirus was first found in China last year, it is now spread across 190 countries of the globe and millions got infected with the deadly virus. The drug is currently tested in Peking University in China by scientists and they believe that it could shorten the recovery time for all those who are infected with coronavirus. Sunney Xie, director of the university's Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Genomics said that the drug was tested on animals and was completely successful.
Sunney Xie said that they injected the drug into the mice and the viral load was reduced by a factor of 2500 after five days. This drug uses neutralizing antibodies that are produced by the immune system of the human body. The team's research was published in the journal 'Cell' and it says that these antibodies will turn a potential cure for the disease and it also shortens the recovery time. Sunney Xie said that his team is working round the clock in search for the antibody. Sunney Xie expressed confidence that the drug will be ready before the end of this year. China is ready with five potential coronavirus vaccines that are in the human trial stage.
The World Health Organization (WHO) said that the vaccine will take 12 to 18 months to be ready.
