Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Civil Aviation said that the country will remain locked till May 3rd because of the coronavirus and the restrictions on domestic, international flights will be lifted only after May 3rd. He asked the people to be patient so that they can stay safe during this tough time. The aviation sector is badly hit because of the coronavirus pandemic. Many airlines offered leaves for their employees without any pay. Though the Aviation Ministry was in plans to resume some of the services partially, they are now closed after Modi's announcement of the extension of the lockdown. Cargo flights, offshore helicopter operations, medical evacuation flights and special flights are permitted currently.
There were good reasons for the Lockdown to be extended till 3rd May.

We can consider lifting restrictions on both domestic & international flights thereafter.
I understand the problems being faced by people who need to travel & request them to bear with us.
