Retired High Court Judge Appointed As The New SEC For Andhra Pradesh:- The State Election Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh, Ramesh Kumar had a tiff with the government of Andhra Pradesh after they differed over the local body polls. Ramesh Kumar postponed the polls while AP Government challenged this in the AP High Court. The High Court too postponed the local body polls. The AP Government now suspended Ramesh Kumar who is the current State Election Commissioner. Madras High Court Retired Judge Kanaga Raju has been appointed as the new State Election Commissioner of the state by the government.

The AP Government took a call as per the new ordinance of changing the State Election Commissioners. The file about the appointment of Kanaga Raju as the new Election Commissioner has been sent to the Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan for approval. The Governor approved it soon and Kanaga Raju took the oath as the new State Election Commissioner today in Vijayawada. He is expected to continue in his position for three years. Ramesh Kumar is in plans to approach the High Court to seek the revocation of his removal by the government of Andhra Pradesh.
