75% Jobs for Locals says AP Government:- The Andhra Pradesh Government on Tuesday passed a bill in the Assembly to provide 75% of the jobs for locals in the industries, factories across Andhra Pradesh. The Andhra Pradesh Employment of Local Candidates in the Industries/ Factories Act, 2019, seeks to reserve 75% of jobs for locals in all industries, including units, factories, joint ventures and projects set up in the state. The bill defines that locals are the candidates of Andhra Pradesh. The further details about this are awaited while the opposition TDP says that this process will disappoint the investors.
When no such conditions are there in the neighboring states, AP Chief Minister YS Jagan decided to make it applicable. With a lot of criticism on this, YSRCP sounded quite confident about the bill. "Where qualified/suitable local candidates are not available, the industry/factory within 3 years with the active collaboration of government shall take steps to train and engage local candidates," the Bill states. YS Jagan feels that locals are defined clearly in the act.
