Three Gold Smugglers Held In Vizag Airport:- The Customs officials of Visakhapatnam airport nabbed three passengers who arrived from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia through Air Asia flight. What's so surprising is that all the three passengers swallowed gold sachets and tried to smuggle them. The custom officials managed to recover 80 grams of gold which is worth Rs 2.33 lakhs. The three passengers have been identified as Azharuddin, Abdullah and Nayeem. They behaved suspiciously after which they have been questioned. All the three accused are natives of Tamil Nadu and they landed in Vizag.
Azharuddin, Abdullah and Nayeem have been sent to King George Hospital, Vizag and the doctors extracted fold from their bodies. The doctors clarified that they have been examined and the gold was recovered. They were given laxatives through which the gold was extracted. With bringing gold turned out to be a tough one, the customs officials revealed that several passengers have been smuggling it through the abdomen or rectums of the passengers. Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) recently seized 1,269 grams of gold, valued at around Rs 40 lakh from a passenger in AP.
