West Bengal Panchayat Elections Turn Violent: Eight Killed:- The Panchayat elections in West Bengal turned so violent that eight people have been killed in the widespread violence in the state. After months of court battle, the elections are being held today across the state. Several places witnessed bomb attack and eight people lost their lives in various incidents across West Bengal. Trinamool challenged the court after 34% of them were opposed after the elections.

Almost twenty people have been injured in a blast near the polling station in Shuktabari, Coochbehar's district. Clashes broke down at various places and despite of huge security, the law and order went out of control. BJP, CPM, and the Congress alleged their candidates could not file nominations due to what they called Trinamool's "terror tactics". Panchayat elections in West Bengal have always been hectic and violent right from 2008.
