Delhi HC Issues Notice On Sukesh Bail Plea In EC Bribery Case:- The Delhi Police have been issued a notice by the Delhi High Court, on the bail petition of Sukesh Chandrasekhar.

Sukesh was arrested in the Election Commission bribery case involving AIADMK (Amma) leader T T V Dhinakaran. Justice Ashutosh Kumar sought the response along with a status report from the police before the next date of hearing, which is scheduled on September 5.

Senior advocate Aman Lekhi, appearing for Chandrashekar, sought bail for him and said he had been in jail for the last four months. On April 16, Chandrasekhar was arrested. The High Court had denied him bail once and twice by the trial court.

On June 15, the high court rejected his bail petition on the ground that police had seized a fake Rajya Sabha member ID card from his possession, which was a “serious threat to Parliament’s security”. A charge sheet was filed on July 14. The police in the charge sheet have alleged that to get the ‘two leaves’ symbol for their party, Dinakaran and Chandrashekar conspired to bribe Election Commission (EC) officials.

The Delhi Police Crime Branch also included allegations of forgery for purpose of cheating, using forged document as genuine, possessing a forged document, intending to use it as genuine and criminal conspiracy in the chargesheet.

Last week, Chandrashekar had moved the high court. He alleged that despite an order not to subject him to violence inside Tihar Jail, he was tortured. On July 24, the high court had warned of “serious action” over the allegations of torture and said any such incident would not be tolerated.
