AFMI Invites Minister Harish Rao For Annual Convention In US

AFMI Invites Minister Harish Rao For Annual Convention In US:- For his efforts to provide irrigation to unirrigated lands in major portion of Telangana State, Irrigation Minister Harish Rao has been invited to attend the annual convention of American Federation of Muslims of Indian Origin (AFMI).

Based in North America, The Federation, an international organization of Indian Muslim Diaspora had extended its invitation to Mr. Harish Rao urging him to participate in its annual convention. The convention programme is themed as  “The emerging challenges to India’s secularism and pluralism. It is scheduled to be held in Addison in Chicago of USA during October this year.

In an invitation to the Minister, AFMI president Razia Ahmed and President elect Khutubuddin have expressed their admiration for the novel initiatives taken up by the TRS government in Telangana and requested Harish Rao to speak about State government’s flagship programme ‘Mission Kakatiya’ and other programmes of the government.

After receiving accolades from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various national level organizations including NITI Aayog, ‘Mission Kakatiya’ is now receiving appreciation from international organizations.

Supervised by Mr. Harish Rao, Mission Kakatiya in particular helped in restoring 17,000 irrigation tanks and provided irrigation water to over 16 lakh acres under minor irrigation projects itself. It had brought an additional five lakh acre land into cultivation. This had brought “tremendous changes” in the Telangana rural economy, the federation said adding its president and president-elect were both from Telangana.

During his tour which is likely to be around 8-9 days, Harish Rao is likely to meet members of the Indian community at Detroit, New York, New Jersey, Houston and Dallas among others.
