YSRCP Legislators Arrested For Staging Protest Over Irrigation Water Scheme:- Two YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) legislators were arrested in Anantapur, for staging a protest demanding implementation of Uravakonda Irrigation Water scheme.

The legislators who were arrested were identified as Uravakonda MLA Y Vishveshwara Reddy and MLC Vennapusa Gopal Reddy. They were arrested from the protest site at the Rural Water Supply (RWS) office. The protests would continue till the government gives assurances on implementation of the scheme for the benefit of the farmers, said the Legislators.

When the police tried to forcibly exclude the protesters, tension prevailed at the RWS office for sometime. Several YSRCP activists were pushed and jostled down. Some of the protesters were injured, in the resulting disturbance.

Later, slogans were raised against the government and the police high-handedness by the protesters.
