PVR Cinemas To Deploy 4DX Screens In Hyderabad Soon?:- The Hyderabadis will soon witness the presence of 4DX screen-equipped theatres by the multiplex operator, PVR Cinemas.
PVR Limited CEO Gautam Dutta said the multiplex chain plans to deploy the remaining screen in Hyderabad and other cities.
An agreement was signed with South Korean cinema company CJ 4DPLEX and the PVR Cinemas, last year to add 10 4DX screens to its network.
Owned by CJ 4DPLEX, 4DX is the first and leading 4-dimension (4D) cinema technology for feature films that provides moviegoers with an immersive cinematic experience using motion, wind, lightning, vibration, fog, rain, snow, rainstorm and scents that go far beyond 3D. It offers a complete visual, aural, olfactory and tactile experience to cinema viewing. And now, the company is looking to increase expansion of the new 4DX technology screens.
In India, only two 4DX screens are currently available - PVR has one in Noida and Cinepolis in Thane, Mumbai.
Gautam Dutta told a leading news channel that “The response to the 4DX screen in Delhi has been phenomenal and we get 70-72% occupancy.”
“There will be more people coming often to watch a movie, with these screens. It is a differentiated technology and a leader brand has to do that to create a brand position in the market,” Dutta added.
The remaining screens are being planned to be deployed in cities including Pune, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Gurgaon and Delhi, the company said.
When asked about investments to deploy the 4DX screens, Dutta said, “To deploy this technology in each of the auditorium, we have to spend a capex of Rs 5 crore.”
Currently, PVR operates a cinema chain comprising 579 screens at 126 properties in 50 cities (18 states and 1 Union Territory).
