Fashion is the buzz word for the teenagers and skinny Jeans has become a trend among the girls. No doubt, a jeans paired with short tees or tops adds to one’s chic look. It is found that wearing this type of pants on a regular basis can result in extreme health issues.

Doctors are warning the potential risks of wearing skinny jeans after they have received a complaint from a woman, who was suffering from muscle and nerve damage after wearing tight pair of pants for a long period.

The unidentified 35-year-old woman had come to the hospital with a complaint of ankle weakness and swelling in her lower legs. She “recalled that her jeans had felt increasingly tight and uncomfortable during the day”. The doctors had to cut the jeans off her, because they were so tight and found that she had severe weakness in her ankles because her leg nerves had been damaged.

Doctors while investigating the case came to a conclusion that she was suffering from ‘compartment syndrome’, a crucial condition where an injury leads to swelling of the muscle or nerves that is restricted by a layer of tissue called the fascia.

Dr. Roy Buchinsky, Director of Wellness at the University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland said fascia surgery is one of the solutions for women suffering from inflamed muscles. He added that in severe cases, amputation has to be done to treat the patient.
