The Board of Control for Cricket in India [BCCI] has asked the Indian players to do a sacrifice by keeping their wives and girlfriends away during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 which is scheduled to begin from February 14th. BCCI has allowed wives and girlfriends of cricketers during the Test series against Australia to host their spouses through Christmas and New Year but in biggest sporting events like the World Cup, the body has put a foot down.
The BCCI is likely to make an announcement soon regarding banning of wives and girlfriends through the World Cup. “This rule of not allowing wives and girlfriends was always there in the past. In a big tournament like the World Cup, the cricketers should stay away from distractions,” said a top official of BCCI. But reports also say that there will be a small window for wives [no girlfriends] to visit players.
Keeping aside defending the title or not, BCCI is more protective about the players.
