Decoration with one crore oil lamps (Deepotsavam) was conducted at NTR Stadium on Monday on the occasion of the first day of Karthika Masam.  

The month of auspicious Karthika started this year with Monday giving scope for 5 Karthika Mondays on which days some of the devotees observe fast.  

Women participated in large numbers in the lighting and placing of the oil deepams in the NTR Stadium.  The place was illuminated with the lit deepams of different sizes and shapes.   The cultural programs of song and dance stood as special attraction on the occasion.
