It is absolutely true that life is beautiful when there are no mosquitoes around. Frankly speaking after watching S S Rajamouli's  'Eega'/Naan Ee, we think twice before clasping our hands to kill a mosquito, leave alone squatting flies. Such was the impact of the film. But now let's assess the damages that this winged monster does. It sets of on prowl in monsoons. Staying on the fifth floor for sometime I felt that we were immune from this little demons unlike our home towns. But my myth was short-lived as they swooned on me once monsoon started creeping in. I used to jokingly tell my friends that the metro cities are so densely packed that the mosquitoes find no place to live, but they proved me wrong.  

Do we need a divine help to get over the crisis, well of course not. We need more of self help and the help from the corporation. Well now lets see hoe our corporation comes in aid to curb this winged menace. The corporation is embarked on a dual mission. In the first way it tries to curb the  adult mosquito population. And in the second mission, the department sources the origins or the breeding grounds and eliminates them at the larvae stage.

The weekly fogging operations we see in our colonies is a part of this mammoth task. Even the malaria workers have been instructed to spray larvicides on waterways and clear any waste and containers that could turn into breeding areas. On our part we are suppose to ensure that stored water must be kept in close containers and see that no open container is allowed to remain like that for more time. All the huge conventional grinding stone has to be cleaned and covered. Also never throw waste food material at odd places but reserve them for the dust bin. Mosquito menace is a national problem and all of us must contribute for effectively curbing their sting. (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)
