The Nampally criminal court today fined the Tollywood young hero Mr Nikhil for an amount of Rs.2600 and also suspended his four-wheeler driving license for a year for driving his vehicle in an inebriated condition.
Mr Nikhil was caught driving his vehicle in fully inebriated condition at Jubilee Hills in the wee hours of Saturday. The checking squads seized the car and his driving license papers but asked him to go home after booking a case.
On the orders of the magistrate, Mr Nikhil was produced before the court today. Nikhil told journalists that he made a mistake by resorting to drunken driving. “I will keep off driving for the suspended period. I did the wrong thing by driving the vehicle in an inebriated condition instead of being a model for the youth of the city,” he said realizing his mistake.
He also vowed to stop drinking alcohol and participate in anti-alcohol and anti-drunken driving programmes.
The Hyderabad police, instead of imposing fines on the drunken drivers when they are caught, are taking them to courts with a view to reduce accidents in the city.
