Alleging that Justice Sri Krishna Committee has made the Telangana issue more complex, CPI general secretary AB Bardhan has demanded the formation of separate state of Telangana which includes Hyderabad city.
Addressing the Praja Poru (People’s fight) public meeting at Nizam College grounds in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Mr Bardhan said Hyderabad is a part of Telangana and a Telangana without Hyderabad is not acceptable to them.
“Respecting the sentiments of the Telangana people, it is better to divide the state. There is no other solution to the problem,” Bardhan said, adding that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Chidambaram should take the initiative and take steps for formation of Telangana state.
Disclosing that CPI will launch an independent struggle to achieve Telangana, he said they would not unite with those who are provoking regional sentiments.
Addressing the meeting, CPI state secretary Narayana asked the party cadres to take up a direct fight for the sake of Telangana. Narayana asked them to conduct Rasta Roko agitation in all Mandal and district headquarters on June 27 and lay siege to the District Collectorates on July 11.
